Scope

Acupuncturists treat a whole health model by treating many conditions using filiform needles, gua sha, cupping, and Chinese herbal medicine. In addition, acupuncturists are the only healthcare providers trained to use acupuncture needles as a primary tool for treatment. In Florida, acupuncture is a form of primary health care based on traditional Chinese medicine, and cosmetic acupuncture is used for facial rejuvenation.

The NCCAOM published a dry-needling statement that explores differences in education and terminology between Acupuncturists and Physical Therapists. In addition, the American Alliance for Professional Acupuncture Safety published a white paper in 2016 outlining that dry-needling is acupuncture. The Florida Board of Acupuncturists also agrees that dry-needling is acupuncture. Dry-needling
